Description

Caroline Place is a terrace of four cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Fore Street, Plympton St Maurice. The cottages are constructed of incised stucco with some render, and have asbestos slate roofs with brick end stacks. Each cottage has a double-depth plan, featuring one room at the front and an entrance hall to the right; No.89 is wider and includes a carriage doorway on its right side. The terrace presents an overall six-window frontage, with original 12-pane hornless sash windows present in all but No.91, which has late 20th century replacements. Original stucco detailing includes a plinth, a moulded hood on consoles to the doorway of No.87, keyblocks to No.89, and a mid-floor string to Nos. 89 and 91. Most cottages retain their original four-panel doors, although No.87 has a 20th century six-panel door. The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is included on the list for its group value with No.93.
