Description
Monkswalk is a pair of two-storey houses from the early 19th century located to the west of a courtyard on High Street in Dunbar. The houses have rectangular plans and are built of rubble sandstone with droved ashlar dressings and plain raised margins. Originally designed as a mirrored pair, they feature two-bay east and west elevations with entrance doors in the dividing close. Some openings have been partly altered, with a mix of lying-pane and 12-pane glazing. The roofs are piended and covered with slate, and the chimney stacks are rendered and incised to resemble ashlar.
Inside, the houses have simple pilastered chimneypieces and a winding stair.
