Description

This milepost, located on Glasgow Road in Milngavie, dates back to 1861. It is a single-stage, rectangular, slightly bow-fronted cast-iron post featuring embossed pointing hands, names, and distances. The milepost is set into a low semicircular-coped wall situated between Nos 13 and 15 Glasgow Road. It is detailed with the inscriptions 'GLASGOW ROYAL EXCHANGE 7', 'BALFRON 12', and 'ABERFOIL (sic) 19'.
