Description
This is a pillar-type letter box from 1936, designed during the reign of Edward VIII. It features a columnar shape with a swept frieze leading to a shallow-domed cap that has a dentilled rim. The box is made of cast iron, with the base painted black. The shaft displays "EVIIIR" in raised gothic lettering, topped with a crown, and the words "Post Office" below. There is also a later attached ironwork pouch.
