Description
The Edward VIII post box, located at the corner of Great George Street and Cecil Street, was built in 1936. This columnar pillar box features a swept frieze leading to a shallow domed cap, which is dentilled at the rim. It is prominently situated at a corner site and is made of red and black painted cast iron. The post box has a deep base and a shaft that faces east, containing a door equipped with a cup handle and lock. Above the door, there is a rectangular opening. The door is marked with "EVIIIR" in raised Gothic script, accompanied by a crown above and the words "POST OFFICE" below.
