Strathkelvin District Library Headquarters, Kirkintilloch Road, Cadder

The Strathkelvin District Library Headquarters, located on Kirkintilloch Road in Cadder, is a stone-built school that opened on August 25, 1896. It features gothic detailing and has a symmetrical single-storey, five-bay facade facing the road. The building includes mullioned windows and paired cross-windows in the prominent outer gables. At the center, there is a two-stage square tower that houses the main entrance at its base, a belfry stage, and wall-head gablets with clock faces. The tower is topped with a steep pyramidal spire that is red-tiled and finialed. The eaves string course continues and steps down to form segmental-arched hood-moulds over the gable windows, which are adorned with quatrefoils and timber frames at the gable heads. The building also has axial stacks and slate roofs with ridging tiles.
