Description
116 Loudoun Road in Newmilns is a building believed to date from the 1760s, originally constructed as a parish manse. The original house features harled walls with white-painted ashlar margins, standing two storeys tall with five regular bays. The central door is framed by a lugged architrave topped with a cornice. There is a cill band and an eaves/lintel band at the first floor, and the windows are small-paned sashes.
On either side of the original structure, there are full-height additions that maintain the original roof profile and may also date back to the 18th century. The additions feature red ashlar window bays, and the first-floor windows were added in the late 19th or early 20th century, along with axial stacks. The building is topped with a slate roof.
