1 Old Market Place, Banff

1 Old Market Place in Banff is a house dating from around 1800. It is two stories tall and has three bays, with a rear wing that forms an L-shape. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins and dressings. The front features a central door with a simple Gibbsian doorpiece, a panelled door, and small windows on either side. The first floor has three tall windows, with four-pane glazing on the ground floor and eight-pane glazing in the first floor's timber sash and case windows. The house has wallhead gable end stacks and a piended slate roof.

The rear wing is also two stories and has three bays, with an end stack. The front wall includes square painted ashlar gatepiers, each featuring a shallow stringcourse and a shallow corniced cap that has the base of an iron lampholder. There is a coped front wall, and a high wall separates the house from Reid Street.
