Description

The Secession Church, located at 4 Euclid Crescent in Dundee, was designed by James H. Langlands in 1891 and converted for school use in 1989 by Robbie and Wellwood. This three-storey Gothic former church features ground floor halls and is built on a compact site. The exterior is constructed of snecked rubble with cream ashlar dressings and a grey slate roof.

The front elevation includes a shouldered stair gable on the left side, with a central door that has a cusped pointed-arch fanlight above it. The doorpiece features a shouldered gable with a finial and crocketed copes, flanked by cusped lights. Above this, there is a two-light pointed-arch stair window with a hoodmould and label stops. To the right, there are two bays that contain a door and both single and bipartite windows on the ground floor, as well as single and bipartite windows on the first floor, all with pointed hoodmoulds. Dormerheads above these windows also follow the same pattern.

On the right return elevation, there is one lancet window on the first floor, and a new narrow block has been added to the right, linking to the former Panmure Street Congregational Church.

The rear elevation features three windows on the ground floor, with bipartite and single windows on the first and second floors located at the original bays on the right side. There is modern infill to the left.

Inside, the interior has been remodelled, but original cast-iron stair balusters remain. The gallery has been floored over.
