Description
West Gate-Lodge at Camperdown House in Dundee is a picturesque lodge, possibly designed by William Burn around 1824 to 1830, which remodels an earlier 18th-century cottage. The building is rectangular and constructed from random rubble, featuring large off-centre windows on each long side, with one window barred and the other blocked. The gables have doors that were originally windows, and there is a later timber porch added to the south gable.
The lodge has a slate roof with overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboarding, along with a tall square section chimney stack at the rear wallhead. It is set back from the vermiculated gatepiers, which have capitals that are currently found in the undergrowth nearby, and is approached by a curved rusticated path.
