Description

207 Fisher Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is a three-storey tenement building designed by James MacLaren and Sons, dated 1896. It is situated on a corner site and features snecked rubble construction, harled on the west gable, with ashlar dressings and a grey slate roof. The building has a base course and an eaves course, along with margined doorcases that have deep, corbel-detailed corniced lintels. The windows are a mix of single, paired, and bipartite styles, all with lugged architraves and moulded cornices. The second-floor gables have consoled cornices, while the dormerheads are shouldered elsewhere. Notably, there is a three-storey canted window with a finialled squat ogival roof at the southwest angle, featuring a green slate band. The rear has single half-piended dormerheads, and throughout the building, there is plate-glass sash and case glazing. The wallhead and end gables are adorned with coped skews, skewblocks, and corniced stacks, most of which have recast cornices made of cement, and there are mostly uniform terracotta cans. The cast-iron rainwater goods include decorative hoppers and brackets.

The east elevation, facing Gray Street, is asymmetrical with six bays. The left side has three bays, with a door on the right, two windows to the left, a bipartite window at the first floor with a dormerhead at the second, and a canted window at the far left angle. The right side also has three bays, featuring a centrally located door flanked by single windows, a paired window at the first and second floors, a datestone at the gable, and bipartite windows at the ground, first, and second floors on the left, with ground and first floor windows on the right, plus a single dormerhead at the second floor. There is a window at the first and second floor on the right return gable.

The south elevation, facing Fisher Street, consists of two bays. It has a central door with a bipartite window at the ground and first floor to the left, along with a dormerhead at the second floor, and a window at the first and second floor on the left return gable. The right side has paired windows at the ground, first, and second floors, with a blank panel at the gable.

The rear elevation features various doors and single windows. The interior has not been inspected.
