Description
79-85 Fisher Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, dates from around 1800 and is a two-storey and attic, four-bayed flatted block. Originally, it was a three-bay building with a central door. An additional floor was added to the close on the right and a stairwell at the rear around 1845. The building is rendered and lined, featuring a slate roof with brick and stone stacks.
On the south elevation, there is a base course and a door with a narrow transom light, flanked by eight 12-pane sash and case windows, with the close to the right. The first floor has two similar windows arranged symmetrically, along with two 2-pane sash and case windows on the right. There is a piended dormer on the left and a box dormer on the right, with a mutual skew gable and ridge stone stack on the left, and a small brick stack attached.
The north elevation features a central advanced stairwell with a piended roof and a long 12-pane margined window. Inside, there are decorative cast-iron balusters at the first-floor level.
