Lifeboat House And Slipway, Fisher Street, Broughty Ferry

The Lifeboat House and Slipway on Fisher Street in Broughty Ferry was designed by W T Douglass from Westminster and is dated 1909. It is a single-storey, rectangular-plan structure built from snecked bull-faced rubble masonry, featuring cast-iron rainwater goods and a slate roof. The slipway is made of steel and concrete.

The south gable has a flat-roofed projection with a vertically sliding boat door and a pedestrian door on the left, both set into a partially blocked former larger opening. Safety rails are positioned on either side of the slipway leading to the shore. The main gable is set back and displays '1909' at the gablehead.

On the north gable, there is a memorial plaque at the centre with a window above it, and 'RNL-BI' is inscribed at the pediment. The west elevation features stairs with railings leading to a door on the left, along with two stepped windows on the right and two rooflights. The east elevation has two stepped windows on the left and a flat-roofed projection with a window on the right.

Inside, the building has a kingpost roof with one hammerbeam to accommodate the hoisted lifeboat. The slipway extends from the south gable over the foreshore.
