Description

14-16 Newton Of Barr Cottages in Lochwinnoch date from the late 18th to early 19th century. This two-storey building is constructed from sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features irregular openings. On the ground floor, from left to right, there are two windows, a door that has been converted to a window, another door, and two more windows. The first floor has four irregularly spaced windows. All openings have margins, as do the ends of the building. There is an eaves band and a base course. The windows are 4-pane sash and case. The roof is slated, with gable-head plain coped chimney stacks. At the rear, there is a projecting semicircular stair bay, although the fenestration has been altered. The building was converted into four flats in 1992, while retaining its original external appearance.
