Description

The Manor House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and replacement windows from the 19th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed sandstone, with some later brick repairs, and has an old tile roof. The building is two and a half storeys high. There are four gabled dormers on the front, each with wooden cross windows, serrated barge boards, and gutters at the eaves. A parapeted gable end is on the left, with end and a ridge stack positioned off-centre to the right. The front has an irregular four-window arrangement on the first floor; the windows are glazing-bar sashes with flush frames and keyed lintels. On the ground floor, a window is positioned off-centre to the right, the brick head indicating an early 19th-century date. Blocked windows are located to the left and between the first and second windows from the right. A blocked door is situated off-centre to the left, with a smaller inserted casement adjacent. The front door, also off-centre to the left, has six flush panels, panelled reveals, and a keyed lintel. An earlier timber-framed section of the house adjoining the building to the south was destroyed by fire in the mid-1970s.
