Jubilee Arch, Reres Park, Monifieth Road, Dundee

Jubilee Arch, located in Reres Park on Monifieth Road in Dundee, was designed by Charles Edward and Thomas Saunders Robertson and completed in 1887. This structure commemorates Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee and features a drinking fountain, all in a Baronial style made of ashlar sandstone.

The south elevation showcases a round-headed archway with roll-moulding, adorned with a lion rampant and royal arms set in circular panels within the spandrels. It has circular-section piers designed to resemble turrets, complete with a base and string course. The parapet is corbelled and battlemented, featuring a raised central relief panel of Queen Victoria, along with cable moulding and carved decorations of thistles, roses, and shamrocks. The caps of the piers are banded conical shapes topped with crown finials.

The north elevation mirrors the south but includes a relief of Broughty Castle in the raised central panel.

The drinking fountain consists of small circular-section turret-piers with conical caps, linked by a central section that features a water stoup and a round-headed niche, although the plumbing is missing. The spandrels display thistle and rose motifs.

Surrounding the arch is a long low ashlar retaining wall, from which railings have been removed, extending to circular-section paired ashlar gatepiers. These gatepiers have a base course and conical stone caps, with the western pair topped with thistle finials.
