East Wing, Harris Building, Geddes Quadrangle, University Of Dundee, Dundee

The East Wing of the Harris Building, located in Geddes Quadrangle at the University of Dundee, was designed by Rowand Anderson and Paul in the early 20th century. It is a two-storey engineering laboratory with a rectangular plan. The ground floor is finished in cream ashlar, while the first floor features red ashlar. The building has a grey slate platform roof and includes a band course and rusticated quoins on the first floor. The ground floor has Diocletian windows, and the first floor is adorned with margined six-pane sash and case windows arranged in groups of three. The cast-iron rainwater goods have moulded hoppers.

A later block connects to the main structure and is two storeys tall, though it is lower than the main block. This addition features first-floor dormerheads that break through the eaves, is finished in cream ashlar, and has a piended grey slate roof. It includes eight and twelve-pane sash and case windows, as well as one sixteen-pane casement.

On the front elevation, the main block is situated to the right, showcasing three Diocletian windows on the ground floor with multi-pane glazing, and three groups of three windows on the first floor. There is also a nine-light continuous glazed rooflight and a modern ventilator. The later block to the left has a single-storey segmental bay at the left re-entrant angle with three windows, a single window on the main elevation to the right, and two windows on the first floor with shaped dormerheads.

The interior of the building has been modernised, with few original features remaining.
