Description
Aystree Lodge and Gates, located at 26 Victoria Road in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, was designed by Charles Ower and Charles G Soutar in 1903. This single-storey lodge is built in an L-shape using bull-faced rubble with ashlar dressings featuring chamfered margins. The building primarily has sash and case windows, which include 6-pane top sashes. The gable is half-timbered and harled, with plain bargeboards and deep eaves. It has two tall, coped stacks topped with terracotta cans and a brown concrete tile roof.
On the west elevation, there is a door with a fanlight and a 5-light bow window to the right, which is set back under a jettied gable. This gable features a console on the right and a projecting beam supported by a turned column on the left. The east elevation has a bipartite window on the left and a small, unsympathetic modern addition on the right.
The boundary wall to the south is a high rubble wall with rounded coping and an entrance gateway. The gatepiers and quadrants are included with the property at 26 Victoria Road, Aystree.
