Description

16 High Street in Kirkcudbright is an early 19th-century terraced house that incorporates earlier elements. The building is two stories high with an attic and features five bays, with an additional two bays to the right. The exterior is harled with painted margins and has rusticated painted quoins, while the gabled rear wing is constructed of rubble and also has painted margins.

On the left side, there is a pedimented doorway on the right, flanked by paired pilasters and narrow sidelights with acid-etched glass that has contrasting margins. The ground floor has two windows, and the first floor has five windows, all with 12-pane glazing. There are also two later piended dormers. The building has end stacks and a slate roof.

To the right, there is a two-story, two-bay section with two rooflights in the attic. This section features a larger central window on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor. The extensive rear wing is also two stories high and includes an attic, constructed of rubble, with an attic window on the west side that has a gabled head.
