Description

29 High Street in Kirkcudbright is an 18th-century building that may include elements from earlier periods and has undergone alterations in the 19th century. It consists of terraced houses that are two storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The structure is built from rubble with rendered and painted margins.

The central entrance boasts an elaborately detailed panelled door with a fanlight above it, and there is an additional door to the right. To the left of the entrance, there is one window, while the first floor has two windows that belong to No 27, all fitted with 12-pane sash windows. No 29 has one enlarged window on both the ground and first floors.

The building also features two large, later wallhead dormers and has a moulded eaves course that is now quite eroded. The straight skews are complemented by a moulded skewputt on the right, and there are end stacks. The roof is covered with graded slate. At the rear, there is a tall stair window that has unusual sash details with a 21-pane glazing pattern.
