Description
18 High Street in Kirkcudbright is a terraced house that likely dates from the mid 18th century and was remodeled in the early 19th century. The building is two stories high with four bays and features painted ashlar with margins. There is a wide pend on the right side, and the door is located in the right-center bay, framed by an architrave with Greek Key moulding and a consoled cornice. All windows are fitted with plate glass, and there is a moulded cornice along the top. The house has tall end stacks and a square, two-story rear wing that sits over a raised basement. The gable end has a projecting first-floor canted bay. To the west, there is an additional store and loft built from rubble. The roofs are covered with slate. The building was revised in 1991 to feature painted render.
