Description

Architect probably William Adam, circa 1740. 2-storey L-plan

block, probably built as service quarters for Tinwald house.

Lightly droved red ashlar with polished dressings. All

openings margined; square 1st floor windows linked to eaves

band. 2 doors to 5-bay south west elevation, keystoned

basket-arched cart opening off-centre on long south east

elevation now blocked, with windows. Similar blocked opening

to courtyard, curved drum with parapet in re-entrant angle.

Most windows have small panes. Eaves course and cornice;

symmetrically placed margined apex stacks; piended slate roof,

swept over eaves.
