Description

These stables, likely dating to around 1777 and contemporary with the doorpiece of Knockhill House, comprise a U-shaped layout arranged around a small, narrow courtyard. The stables are a single storey in height, with lofts above. Their construction utilises painted rubble with contrasting ashlar margins.

The north range features a piended roof, swept down at the north end over the stables. The parallel ranges each have a segmental-arched cartway and a small oculus window in their south-facing gables. A modern glazed roof covers part of the courtyard. The remaining roofs are slated and swept to accommodate horizontal roof ventilators.
