Description
This is a circa 1840 former gate lodge, built in the style of Walter Newall. It is a single-storey building with a cruciform plan, although a modern addition exists to the north. The lodge is constructed of red ashlar. Its windows have round-headed lights set within panels, and a canted window is located below the crest in the south gable. A door is situated in the re-entrant angle, set behind a modern porch. Bipartite windows are found in both the east and west gables. The lodge features ornately carved bargeboards with finials, and a corniced central stack. The roof is covered with fish-scale slates. Curved quadrant walls, also constructed of red ashlar, extend from the lodge, supported by square piers with projecting caps. A driveway leading to Dalawoodie House was formerly more direct but has been impacted by the re-alignment of the main road.
