Description
Probably dating to circa 1840, this group of buildings forms a quadrangular walled garden enclosure. The enclosure is surrounded by buildings to the north, some of which have been partially converted and now include single-storey cottages. All structures are built of red rubble with ashlar dressings. The garden walls have ashlar coping, with a low south wall supporting an iron fence and a central gate. A pyramidal-roofed square shed, possibly a former dovecot, with a weathervane finial, rises above the northwest angle of the garden. Lean-to additions face the outer side of the north wall. An L-plan cottage is located at the east end, adjacent to a garage/cartshed. A Z-plan range to the west is primarily cottage accommodation, featuring piended roofs and an apex stack with paired flues. The west-facing range has three garage/cartshed openings, two leading into a small cobbled court. Windows are mostly sash windows. All roofs are covered with graded slates.
