Description
Colvend Church, designed by architect Peter McGregor Chalmers in 1911, is a cruciform church featuring a tall tower at the west gable and a four-window side aisle to the north. The building is constructed with bull-faced granite walling and polished red sandstone margins. It has round-arched single windows with plain dressings and slate roofs. The three-stage square tower includes louvred openings on the third stage and a facetted roof.
Inside, the church displays Romanesque detailing, with a two-arch arcade that separates the transepts at the crossing and a four-arch arcade that divides the side aisle from the nave. The roof is an open braced collar-beam design supported on corbels. An organ is located in the south transept, and there are three stained glass windows, all created around 1925 and signed MCMK.
The churchyard features a rubble-walled burial enclosure containing mostly 19th and 20th-century gravestones, with some dating back to the 18th century.
