Description
Dunskey Kennels and Kennel House is a building designed by James Kennedy Hunter between 1901 and 1904. It is a two-storey house with a basement, featuring a three-bay gabled rectangular plan and a lean-to at the rear, finished in harl.
The south elevation, which serves as the entrance, has coped steps leading to a central entrance with a recessed timber door and fanlight. To the right at ground level, there is a narrow window, with a single window directly above it on the first floor. Flanking the entrance are single windows on both the ground and first floors, and there is a small basement window to the outer left.
On the north elevation, there is a narrow single window at ground level and a central single window on the first floor of the main house. To the outer left, there is a lean-to and a flat-roofed extension with a timber entrance door and a narrow single window.
The west elevation features a basement entrance to the outer right and a single window at ground level to the outer left. The east elevation has two single windows at ground level in the center and a ball finial on the coped extension.
The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, coped gablehead stacks, and circular cans. The cast-iron rainwater goods are also notable.
The interiors were not seen in 1997.
To the south of the Kennel House, there are single-storey kennels with an irregular plan, also finished in harl. The entrance is marked by iron railings, which divide the bays, and there is a semi-circular window to the outer left.
