Description
This is a 17th-century and later churchyard, containing gravestones from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The churchyard’s statutory address is Girthon Old Kirk Churchyard, excluding Girthon Old Parish Church, which is a separately designated Scheduled Monument (No. 7868). The churchyard was previously listed as 'Girthon Old Kirk and Churchyard'. Ordnance Survey maps from 1850 depict the churchyard at a scale of 6 miles to the inch. Further details are available in the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland's 1914 inventory of Kirkcudbrightshire.
