Description
Enrick is a house dating to around 1830. It is a symmetrical, two-story, three-bay building with single-story, single-bay pavilions on either side. The rear of the house exhibits Gothic detailing, although the front has been altered in the later 19th century.
The front elevation is rendered, while the rear is harled over brick. A brick gabled porch originally centred the front elevation but has since been removed, replaced with later 19th-century canted bay windows flanking the doorway. The doorway itself is narrow and basket-arched, featuring a partly-glazed door and a fanlight. Three sash windows with four panes of glass are located on the first floor. The pavilions each have a single four-pane sash window.
The rear elevation presents with a central, projecting two-story gabled bay containing a Roman Doric pilastered porch and a panelled door. All windows have a shallow basket arch, with a timber mullion dividing two pointed-arch lights, fitted with sash and case windows containing four panes of glass per sash. The roofs are piended and slate-covered, punctuated by deeply overhanging, picturesque bracketted eaves and tall, corniced end stacks topped with octagonal cans. A single-story, harled, piend-roofed wash house sits nearby, featuring deeply overhanging bracketted eaves and a coped brick stack along the rear wallhead.
It is unusual for Enrick to be primarily constructed of brick, potentially using locally made Gatehouse bricks. The statutory address is Enrick Farmhouse.
