Description

Mein Bridge is a road bridge, likely dating to around 1805, constructed by contractor John Park. The bridge carries a roadway over the Mein Water via a single, segmental arch. It is built of coursed and squared rubble, with recessed ashlar arch rings and parapet coping. The parapet coping features raised square terminal piers topped with pyramidal caps. Both the roadway and parapets have shallow ramped approaches. Records indicate Park was paid for building the bridge on 15 December 1801, suggesting an earlier phase of construction or repairs occurred.
