Merlin, 2 Wellington Buildings, Carsethorn

This is a circa 1815 row of five houses, including a shop, located in Carsethorn. The building appears as a continuous two-storey structure, with each house having three bays and a central doorway (an additional doorway is present in the subdivided house). The end houses have an extra piended bay. The houses are generally constructed of rubble with ashlar margins; however, No. 2 is harled and the rest are limewashed or painted rubble. Lochinvar detailing is featured on the ashlar margins, with rusticated quoins, a first-floor cill band, an eaves/lintel band. All outer doors have porches, and the other doors have fanlights, two of which are decorative. Most of the windows are small-paned sash windows. The roofs are primarily slated, although some are tiled, with straight skews and corniced end stacks. A garden area lies in front of the houses, enclosed by rubble-built walls.
