Description
The Harbour Master's House is a circa 1815 row of five houses, including a shop, situated in Carsethorn village. The buildings are constructed of rubble, with ashlar margins; numbers 2 is harled, while the rest have limewashed or painted rubble facades. The ashlar margins feature rusticated quoins, a first-floor cill band, an eaves/lintel band, and Lochinvar detailing. Each house is three bays wide with a central door, although one house has been subdivided and includes an additional door. The outer houses have a piended bay, creating an extra bay. Most houses have small-paned sash windows, with decorative fanlights above the doors; porches are present on the outer doors. Straight skews, corniced end stacks, and slated roofs (with some tiled sections) complete the exterior. A garden area lies in front of the houses, enclosed by rubble-built walls. The statutory address is 1, 2, 3 & 4 Wellington Buildings and Lochinvar (including Shop), Carsethorn Village.
