Description
Criffel View, originally a schoolhouse built in the earlier 19th century, and possibly raised in height later in the century, now comprises two houses. It is two storeys high and features seven bays (four plus three). The building was originally constructed with rubble walls and ashlar dressings; the northern section, formerly the schoolhouse, is now harled with a door to the right, while the southern section, Criffel View, is whitewashed with a central door. Sash windows with 3-pane glazing are found throughout. The roof is covered with graded slates and incorporates straight skews and corniced end stacks. Rear wings extend from the main structure. Statutory address: KIRKBEAN VILLAGE OLD SCHOOLHOUSE AND CRIFFEL VIEW
