1 Wellington Buildings, Carsethorn

1 Wellington Buildings is a row of five houses, likely dating from around 1815. It includes a shop and is situated in Carsethorn village. The row comprises two storeys and each house is originally three bays wide, with a central doorway. The end houses have a further piended bay. Most of the buildings are constructed from rubble with ashlar margins, though No. 2 is harled and the remainder are limewashed or painted rubble. The ashlar margins are painted, feature rusticated quoins, and incorporate a first-floor cill band, eaves band, and lintel band. The outer doors of each house originally had a porch, and the other doors have fanlights, two of which are decorative. Most windows are small-paned sash windows. Straight skews are present, along with corniced end stacks. The majority of the roofs are slated, though some are tiled. A garden area lies in front of the houses and is largely enclosed by rubble-built walls. The statutory address is 1, 2, 3 & 4 Wellington Buildings and Lochinvar (including shop), Carsethorn Village.
