Description
This is a mid-18th century farmhouse accompanied by a courtyard farmsteading, including a notable barn dated 1778. The buildings have been altered and extended over time and are constructed primarily of whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings, and roofs largely covered with graded slates.
The farmhouse is a two-story, three-bay building with a large, wide-gabled wing situated centrally on the south front. A central porch provides access to the courtyard. Chimneys are located at each end of the building.
The west range of the steading, with its mid-18th century barn, is the principal element. The barn features a depressed-arched doorway with a key block in the centre, flanked by slit ventilators. A 19th-century L-shaped range is integrated to the barn's north gable. A separate range extends to the east. The farmsteading is listed because of the high quality of the barn.
