Description
This is a mid-18th century farmhouse with a surrounding courtyard steading, including a notable barn dated 1778. Alterations and additions have been made to the buildings over time. The buildings are constructed of whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings, and the roofs are primarily covered with graded slates.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and comprises three bays, with a large, wide gabled wing located centrally on the south front. A central porch provides access to the courtyard. Chimneys are positioned at each end of the building.
The western range of the steading contains the principal building, a mid-18th century barn. This barn has a depressed arched doorway with a key block at its centre, flanked by narrow slit ventilators. An L-shaped range, built in the 19th century, adjoins the barn’s north gable. A detached range sits to the east. The steading is listed due to the high quality of the barn.
