Description

North Craigs Farmhouse is a late 18th century, east-facing, single-storey cottage with three bays, situated on a slope that descends towards the south, below the road. To the east, there is a low steading block, which is also mainly from the 18th century. This steading comprises two wings set at an obtuse angle, abutting the southeast corner of the cottage. The buildings are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, and the cottage is painted with contrasting margins. The roofs are slated, with a swept design over the roof ventilators at the steading.

The cottage features a central modern door and sash windows with four-pane glazing, along with corniced end stacks. The steading includes a tall barn that adjoins the house, which has a large barn door inserted near the cottage, dated 1827, along with flanking slit ventilators, a door, and a loft window on the east side near the angle. There is one tall bay with a blocked cart opening that returns around the angle into the easternmost wing. The remainder of the steading is single storey and has two doors with lintels dated 1754 and 1818.
