Description

Carruthers Old Churchyard is a quadrangular burial ground that features stone monuments dating from the 17th to the 20th century, with some elaborately carved examples. It is also the site of Carruthers Church. The enclosure was extended to the west around 1910. All the walls are constructed of coursed rubble. There is a stile and a plain iron gate on the west wall, while the south gatepier is a re-used ornamented medieval piece, which has been damaged by bolt-holes and its upper part cut down to wall height.
