Description
Gowkhall Bridge is an 1829 road bridge, built by Parks Masons, spanning the Kirtle Water. It is a single segmental arch bridge constructed from bullfaced grey ashlar and voussoirs. The bridge has gently sloping parapets, which are stugged, with a polished ashlar band below and polished ashlar coping. Square piers, leading to splayed approaches, are topped with shallow pyramidal caps. The bridge is located in Middlebie Parish. Its design shows similarities to some of the bridge designs of Thomas Telford.
