Description
Albie is a farmhouse that likely dates back to 1821, based on the lintel, although it incorporates earlier fabric. It is set within a courtyard steading and features painted or whitewashed rubble with ashlar margins and dressings, topped with slate roofs.
The house is two storeys high with a long, nearly symmetrical south elevation consisting of five bays. The arrangement includes three bays with a central door and two bays that have a door and a window. The eastmost bays appear to contain some early fabric. A modern porch has been added. The house has sash windows with a four-pane glazing pattern, skewed chimneys, and two end stacks along with two axial stacks. The roof is covered with graded slates and sweeps over a rear outshot.
The steading includes a low range that connects to the northeast angle of the house. It has an L-plan main block, with the western range being a tall, long 18th century barn that features slit ventilators. The main roof of the barn sweeps over a projecting barn doorway, which is flanked by modern lean-tos.
