Description
Albie Aisle is a burial aisle with a rectangular plan, likely built in the first half of the 17th century, with an eastern addition made in 1824, as indicated by a datestone. The structure is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings.
The original aisle features an entrance centrally located on the south wall, which has chamfered margins, although no door or gate remains. Above the entrance, there is an inscribed rectangular panel with a continuous cornice and coping. The west wall displays a 17th-century inscribed slab on the outer face, while the inner face features an ornately decorated monument from the mid-18th century. The aisle is currently unroofed.
The eastern addition also includes a doorway on the south side, which has a timber door and margined southeast angle. It features an eaves course, and the original cornice continues over this section. Inside, there is a concealed stone-slab roof with a barrel-vaulted design.
