Description

Glenharvie is an 18th century snuff mill that was converted for domestic use in the early 19th century. It is a 2-storey house connected to outbuildings on the east side by a screen wall. The building is constructed of painted rubble.

The north elevation of the house features five bays, with a wide inner bay that includes a glazed and boarded door. All the windows are 12-pane sashes, and the house has straight skews with end stacks, which have additional brick stacks attached on either side, rising from a low level. The slate roof includes an additional full-height bay to the left that has a monopitch roof and drops to a single storey at the south end.

The south elevation has irregular fenestration with 12-pane sashes, French windows, and two first-floor windows on the right, which are recent insertions. There are also two stones that project between the floors, positioned off centre.

The screen wall is irregular in height and sits on a boulder base, linking to a gabled outhouse that is now used as a garage and features inserted roof lights. To the south of the garage, there is a low range with a monopitch roof and three doors on the north elevation.
