Description
The Mochrum Parish War Memorial, built around 1919, is a sandstone structure designed to honor those who served in the wars. It features an octagonal shaft topped with a cross, which has a projecting dividing band adorned with thistle carvings. The cross is chamfered and includes crocket detailing, while the west face of the shaft displays an embossed sword. The memorial stands on a two-tier pedestal set upon a platform. The lower tier's west face is inscribed with the words "lest we forget." The upper tier has chamfered angles and includes a copper panel on the west face that reads "In memory of the men of Mochrum who gave their lives for King and Country 1914-1918," listing their names. Another copper panel on the south face commemorates those who served in 1939-1945, also including names.
