Dovecot, Corsewall, Kirkcolm

This is a circular dovecot dating from before 1847, located within Dove Cot Plantation to the north of Corsewall House. The structure is built of rubble with some red sandstone ashlar dressings. A doorway is present on the south side, featuring ashlar jambs with stugged squared tails, though the lintel is missing. A window is located on the east side, with a granite lintel. The top of the tower is edged with ashlar flat coping, although some sections are missing. Two ashlar panels, each containing three flight-holes, are situated at eaves level on the south side, with the remains of a ledge visible on the left-hand panel.

The interior is lined with brick, stone, and slate nesting boxes. The dovecot is not marked on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1976 (Sheet NX06NW), and its approximate location is indicated. The structure was surveyed in 1847 and is shown on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1849 for Wigtownshire, Sheet 4. Corsewall House and associated structures are listed separately.
