Description
70 Main Street in Kirkcolm is a pair of two-storey, three-bay houses built in the earlier 19th century and arranged in a terrace. The exterior is harled with painted dressings that include a base course, quoin strips, a narrow eaves course, and raised margins.
On the east elevation facing Main Street, each house features a central door and windows in the outer bays on both floors. The south elevation is adjacent to the lower building at No 68 Main Street, while the north elevation is connected to the lower building at No 74 Main Street, which has a separate listing.
The houses have sash and case windows, with plate glass glazing in No 70 and 4-pane glazing in No 72. The roofs have red sandstone coped skews on the north and south sides, with gablehead stacks at both ends and a ridge stack situated between the houses. The roofs are covered with small grey slates.
