Description
Shennanton Bridge is a mid 19th century, two-arch stone bridge that spans the River Bladnoch, marking the boundary between the parishes of Penninghame and Kirkcowan. The bridge features two depressed arches and bull-nosed buttresses. Its construction includes bull-faced granite voussoirs, springers, buttresses, and a channelled pier or pilaster that rises from the central buttresses. There is a corbel course at the base of the parapet, with a rubble soffit and parapet topped with granite coping.
