Description
Dated 1879, West Lodge is a single-story lodge building. It is constructed of rubble with contrasting red ashlar dressings. The windows are mullioned, nullioned, and transomed. The building has a roughly T-shaped plan, with a bowed south end featuring cross windows. The roof curves over the south end and slopes over the flanking single bays. A porch is located in the east re-entrant angle. The southern elevation includes a wider bay with a three-light window. The roof returns north along the west gable and rises over the side door. A relieving arch and datestone are positioned above the east gable window. A cusped-headed, bipartite porch is adjacent to timber shafts that support an open outer porch. A splayed cill course runs along the base. A tall, bull-faced ashlar ridge stack with individual flues and bracketted eaves is present. The roof is covered in graded slates, with a low outshot to the north.
