Description
The Lodge at Newtonairds, designed by architects Peddie & Kinnear in 1865-1866, is a single-storey Scots Baronial building that features gatepiers and railings. The lodge is constructed from snecked, bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings. On the west elevation, there is a round-headed, rope-moulded doorway on the right within a gabled porch, and a canted window on the left in an advanced gable. The south gable has a mullioned window, while the north side includes a window topped with a pedimented dormer head. The main gables are crow-stepped, and there is a coped axial stack. The roof is covered with graded slates, and there is a modern rear wing added. The gatepiers, also made of red ashlar, feature rope-moulding and gables topped with ball finials. The decorative cast-iron gates and railings are set on a serpentine low coping.
