Description

A group of 19th-century farm buildings form opposite sides of a rectangular courtyard to the north of Knocknalling House.

The south range is likely from the earlier to mid-19th century and is a single-storey structure that has been much altered. To the left is a taller single-storey section with square-headed dormers to an attic, originally a coach house. It features cart entrances, some of which are now blocked, and others contain tripartite windows with small panes.

The north range is from the later 19th century and retains its original character. It is built of rubble walls with granite rusticated quoins and bull-faced granite jambs. The ground floor has five vehicle entrances. First-floor windows are four-pane sash and case windows, with ball-finialled triangular pedimented dormer heads. At the east end, a tall four-stage square tower rises, with a pointed arch entrance, bipartite windows to the second stage, and a clock face on the third. The top stage is tall and blind, corbelled out and covered with a pyramid slate roof. Slate roofs are present throughout, along with an axial stack featuring individual granite flues.

A pair of ball-finialled gate piers mark the east entrance to the courtyard. The stables form a group of historic interest with Knocknalling Barn and Knocknalling House.
