Police Station, Buccleuch Square, Langholm

The building is a police station located in Buccleuch Square, Langholm, dating from the late 19th century. It features Scots baronial architectural details and consists of two storeys with attics. The construction is of stugged and coursed rubble sandstone, complemented by contrasting smooth sandstone dressings and raised quoins. Most of the first-floor windows are segmental-arched, although they have modern glazing.

The long northern elevation facing Buccleuch Square has an off-centre shallow advanced gable. At ground level, there are two round-headed doors, with mullioned windows above. To the left, there are three regular single window bays, and the eastern gable features a stepped three-light attic window in a panel, with a pair of stacks above. The western side has barred cell windows. The building is topped with crow-stepped and broad-eaved gables, coped stacks, and slate roofs adorned with red ridging tiles.
